A Glimpse into Galaxy Glass Studios

Hunter Linstead
Head Artist
Drawn to glass art after watching “Degenerate Art: The Art and Culture of Glass Pipes,” I began my journey by teaching myself in a friend’s shed, exploring glassblowing techniques with curiosity and hands-on experiments. My work is known for themes of outer space and rainbows, especially my “Star map” fuming and vibrant rainbow designs. While my main focus is borosilicate flameworking, I also enjoy working with soft glass, stained glass, and am excited to try neon bending next.
My artistic inspiration comes from creative expression that challenges boundaries, with influences like Mark McCloud’s vintage blotter art. I strive to create functional glass art that pays careful attention to both design and how it’s used, aiming to make each piece beautiful, meaningful, and enjoyable.
I’ve showcased my art at local events, accept commissions for custom pieces, and now teach glass lessons at Galaxy Glass. Beyond glass, I love electronics, woodworking, laser engraving, and 3D printing—often designing creative displays for my work. Whether at the torch or the workbench, I’m always exploring new ways to blend art, craft, and imagination.
Elizabeth Blumenshine
Co-owner of Galaxy Glass
Elizabeth Blumenshine discovered her passion for glasswork in 2016, when she began blowing glass as a hobby. What started as a creative outlet quickly grew into a lifelong pursuit. For over a decade, she honed her skills and deepened her appreciation for the craft while working at a beautiful glass shop. In time, Elizabeth’s journey led her to open her own studio, Galaxy Glass, where her enthusiasm for the art form continues to shine.
Lampworking was the first medium that truly made Elizabeth feel like an artist, inspiring her to explore creativity in new directions. The magic of glass opened her heart to a world of artistic expression, including painting, graphic design, and stained glass. While she dedicates much of her time to running and nurturing Galaxy Glass, Elizabeth remains committed to growing as an artist and finding joy in the transformative power of creativity.
